I'd list Gay first just cause Majerus said he was a "Big Gay Guy".

Re: Chad Forde's Top 10 Prospects

I'm a Duke and J.J. Redick fan. But I agree with the fact that he's probably not a top 10 draft pick. When ESPN's Jay Bilas was comparing J.J. to other past Duke greats I agreed with every one of his assessments that Grant Hill, Laettner, Hurley, etc. were all better than Redick. Can Redick play in the NBA? Absolutely. Is he a lottery draft pick? Highly unlikely. I would be surprised however if he did not go in the first round.

I even think Morrison is the better player of the two. but I also think J.J. should win POY due to the competition level he plays against. Their stats are too close and J.J. playing in the ACC should weigh more than Morrison in the WCC

    Rondo? Rondo?

He's going to have to improve his shooting a great deal to make it at the next level. Great athlete, can't shoot for [censored].

Re: Chad Forde's Top 10 Prospects

Just like Mike Patrick & Dickie V are "JJ Lovers", Chad Ford is a hater. That guy's never had a good thing to say about JJ in an article except to say he can shoot well from long range.

Listen--JJ won't be an all-star in the NBA. If he is, then he'll be having an above average season one year shooting and they'll invite him just to shoot in the 3-point contest. BUT--if JJ gets with the right team that will maximize his abilities and not try to make him do any more than he's capable of...he'll help a team win some championships one day.

He's the perfect example of a great college player who's game doesn't transition well to the "athletes running & jumping" style of the NBA. I still think that college basketball is a purer form of basketball than the NBA because the NBA relies more on one-on-one matchups as opposed to team basketball.

why do you think that the nba is like that though? Truth is, when you have mismatches you use them. Team ball looks better but you dont see team ball in the nba because there is always a mismatch waiting for an iso or kick out from a double team. College ball is more pure, but the nba is the best of the best, there is a reason they have to play that style of basketball.

Re: Chad Forde's Top 10 Prospects

Yes--but which teams run more offensive sets and use set plays than anyone? Teams like the Spurs, Pistons, Heat, etc...in other words, the more successful teams in the NBA are the ones that play team ball. If I'm a team looking to draft someone to get me over the hump, I'd want a PG or a smarter role-player to come in and fit in as a key in my offensive sets.

There's maybe only 3-4 actual PG's in the league anymore that "run" their offense. Phoenix runs--Nash orchestrates the chaos. Billups gets everyone in their spots to make them successful in Detroit. Tony Parker does a lot of scoring, but has a knack for creating within the offense to get others open shots in San Antonio.

Most of the NBA PG's out there today are street-ballers that are too small for the two and have a scoring mentality. They don't know how to do much else, but due to lack of true PG's today...they get PT.

Re: Chad Forde's Top 10 Prospects

As an avid heat fan, they definietly dont play team ball. Either Wade goes one on one, they drop the ball into shaq, he goes to the basket or kicks the ball to the wing, or drives to the middle and passes to the weak side for a 3. Theres not really anything "team" about them. When they dont have Shaq they cant do any of that stuff and their record shows that they suck. Shaq being on the team is all the team ball they need.

The pistons are a little different, but just like the heat, the spurs depend on nothing but post moves and kick outs with the occasional penetration from parker to break down the defense.

The nba is so simplistic yet so effective. If Duncan and Shaq went to another team(which shaq has two times) those teams would be effective doing the same thing. There are rarely any plays called by Riley, the only thing he may switch up is putting a man in the high post or running a "high" set every now and then. The nba is basically park ball that utilizes mismatches, there are no motion offenses.

As good of team ball as the pistons play, youre always going to see Chauncey turning his back to the defender and backing his big [censored] down into the post against them at least 10 times a game.

In essence, the nba is like the canes offense, we got more talent than you, we are telling you what we are running, you can try to stop it but it wont be easy. (before dan werner, now they really know what we are running lol)

Maybe in the 80's, but not anymore. Just look at the Olympics. The NBA is the worst thing you could watch if you were trying to learn the fundamentals of basketball. They can't shoot, they walk on almost every possession, and the defense is pathetic.
The test is simple, if "your" team wins a national championship, do you get a championship ring? If the answer is yes, then you can say "we." If not, you can't.
